The Best Nintendo Switch Games You Need to Play Right Now

With the Nintendo Switch already on its way to being one of the best-selling game consoles of all time, it’s no surprise that people are wondering what the best games to play on the Nintendo Switch are. While you could play some of your favorite titles from the Wii U and even from other consoles, there are tons of games available for the Switch that you’re sure to love if you haven’t played them yet. Here are some of our favorites!

Super Mario Odyssey

Mario’s latest outing is his best yet – an open-world platformer packed with secrets, side-quests and some of the most creative level design ever seen. It’s not just a great Switch game, it’s one of the best games period. Whether you’re traversing busy urban environments or sprawling woodlands, Super Mario Odyssey offers a world full of surprises and delights. It’s also really fun to play co-op: taking on bosses together or solving puzzles in a competitive fashion gives this game added longevity for us; so much so that we’re still playing it now.

The ability to flit between two different modes while playing makes it feel fresh every time we return, as well as a whole new experience when played solo. And if that wasn’t enough, there are multiple collectibles to find including coins and power moons which act as currency.

For all its modernity though, Super Mario Odyssey manages to capture what made people fall in love with Mario all those years ago – goofy enemies like Chain Chomps make him endearing while possessing all the charisma you would expect from gaming’s most iconic hero.

Zelda Breath of the Wild

It’s been called one of the best games of all time, and it’s easy to see why. Zelda Breath of the Wild is a masterpiece, with stunning visuals, an incredible open world to explore, and a ton of interesting side quests and secrets to discover. If you own a Switch, this is a must-play game. Plus, Link is adorable! – Overwatch: Blizzard’s first new franchise in 17 years doesn’t disappoint. Overwatch may be most known for its diverse cast of memorable characters, but what really sets it apart is its approach to multiplayer shooter gameplay. Matches are a tense combination of teamwork and individual skill that come down to who can play their character the best.

There are over 25 different heroes to choose from so finding your favorite is only half the battle—you’ll also need to learn how they work too if you want any hope of victory! – Splatoon 2: The ink-spewing sequel (yes, really) has arrived on Nintendo Switch with twice as many weapons as before plus new ways for players to customize their style on the fly during matches. Sure, there might not be any single-player campaign or deep RPG elements like the original Splatoon had, but it’s still an addictive team-based shooter that feels right at home on the Nintendo Switch. – Stardew Valley:

One of last year’s biggest indie hits is now available on Nintendo Switch. A modern-day take on Harvest Moon set in a quaint country town where you’ll spend your days farming crops, fishing for dinner, exploring dungeons and meeting local residents to court them (or at least marry them). It takes some getting used to at first because the controls aren’t very intuitive at first, but once you get past that initial learning curve Stardew Valley becomes a relaxing little farming sim with hours upon hours worth of content waiting for exploration.

Splatoon 2

Since its release in 2017, Splatoon 2 has continued to be one of the best multiplayer shooters around. It’s easy to pick up and play, but with enough depth to keep you coming back for more. Plus, it’s just a lot of fun. In Splatoon 2, you’ll take control of an Inkling, a human-like creature that can transform into a squid. Your goal is to ink as much of the stage as possible with your team’s color while also taking out the enemy team. There are a variety of modes to choose from, each with its own unique twist. But no matter what mode you’re playing, Splatoon 2 is sure to provide a good time.

Sonic Mania Plus

If you’re a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, you need to check out Sonic Mania Plus. This game is an updated version of the original Sonic Mania, and it’s packed with new features and challenges. Plus, the graphics have been updated and the game runs smoother than ever. Whether you’re a fan of platformers or simply want a fun game to play, Sonic Mania Plus is definitely worth checking out. And if you don’t already own a Switch, then this is one game that should be on your list! -Fire Emblem Warriors: What would happen if you took a classic game like Fire Emblem and mashed it up with games like Dynasty Warriors? Well, Fire Emblem Warriors answers that question perfectly. The story mode in this game is great for anyone who loves strategy games because not only do you have to fight enemy armies but also find resources to build bases as well.

-Puyo Puyo Tetris: Tetris was always a classic puzzle game from when we were kids, but Puyo Puyo Tetris has taken the traditional gameplay into new directions by adding RPG elements into the mix.

Ultra Street Fighter II

Capcom’s legendary fighting series returns for another round on the Nintendo Switch. Ultra Street Fighter II features all of the original characters, plus four new ones, each with their own unique playstyle. The game also includes a new graphics engine that gives the game a fresh coat of paint. Whether you’re a seasoned fighter or just getting into the genre, Ultra Street Fighter II is a must-play.

Arms

In Arms, you play as one of several fighters with extendable arms, fighting in an arena until only one is left standing. The game is simple but addictive, and with a variety of modes and online play, there’s plenty to keep you coming back for more. Plus, the Switch’s portability means you can take Arms with you wherever you go. Just make sure you have a Joy-Con grip or Pro Controller on hand for when it’s time to get serious. -GRAN Turismo Sport: There’s no better racing game than Gran Turismo, and if you’re looking for console-quality gameplay on your commute or while waiting in line at the grocery store, this is your best bet.

-Super Mario Odyssey: Super Mario Odyssey takes everything we loved about Mario 64 and throws it into a blender with all sorts of new ideas (like capturing things by throwing Cappy) that make this one feel like a reinvention of the classic series. It’s just as easy to pick up and play whether you’re six years old or sixty.

Snipperclips Plus

This puzzle game is the perfect way to test your teamwork skills with a friend. With more than 200 levels to work through, you’ll be challenged at every turn. And if you get stuck, the included hint system will help you get unstuck. Plus, this version of Snipperclips includes multiplayer gameplay so you can finally settle that age-old question: paper or scissors? There are plenty of games out there for one player, but not many for two players. It’s always been hard to find someone who wants to play video games with you – but now that we have an entire console devoted to co-op gaming it should be easier! Check out these four amazing co-op games from Nintendo!

But what about playing by yourself? We know some people might like getting in some solo gaming time on their own Switch as well. There are plenty of great single player games available too! These are our top picks for solo play on the Nintendo Switch. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: The latest installment of the classic racing series features fun tracks and even more exciting battle modes. Splatoon 2: Inking up everything in sight has never been so much fun! Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: The offbeat crossover title brings new strategic battles to life with whimsical graphics and hilarious dialogue.

Shovel Knight Treasure Trove: Mario’s not the only old-school character making his debut on the new platform! Zelda Breath of Wild: Playing alone doesn’t mean being lonely thanks to this sprawling adventure game set in a beautiful open world. Take your time exploring Hyrule Field or head straight into the castle to start tackling puzzles. Each dungeon feels completely different from the last, giving you something fresh to explore each time.

You’re bound to get lost in the vastness of Hyrule Field and lose track of where you’re going – but fear not! The Sheikah Slate (which acts as your guide) comes equipped with handy map data which will show you exactly where you need to go next.

Lego Worlds

If you’re a fan of Lego or sandbox games, Lego Worlds is a must-play. It’s one of the best games on the Switch, and it’s perfect for both younger and older gamers. With tons of content to explore and collectibles to find, you’ll be kept busy for hours. The game features amazing visuals that are colorful and detailed with an adorable art style that has made it so popular among fans. There are also many different modes, including the creative mode which allows players to build whatever they want without restrictions. Plus, there are secrets hidden in each world that can unlock bonus vehicles, characters, materials, objects, and more! The possibilities are endless in this game.
